Project Summary

Set to open in 2025, this state-of-the-art building will help prepare Illinois students for futures of purpose and impact. A partnership between Gies Business and campus, this hybrid educational facility will be home to much-needed collaboration spaces, traditional and flexible classrooms, informal learning environments, content creation studios, as well as academic offices and support spaces.

The South Campus Center for Interdisciplinary Learning ("SCCIL") represents an important step in the evolution of the University of Illinois' flagship campus learning environment, while also representing the 3rd project financed in partnership with Provident.

Through a combination of Lease Revenue Bonds issued through the Illinois Finance Authority and a sizeable University contribution, funds were provided in order to finance the cost of the design, development, construction and equipping of an instructional facility on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to be known as the “South Campus Center for Interdisciplinary Learning” or “Steven S. Wymer Hall;” and to finance the cost of the design, development, construction and equipping of a four-story, standalone parking facility, providing approximately 441 parking spaces on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.

At just under 100,000 square feet, the Project will include:

  • 4 classrooms that seat 60

  • 2 sound stages (40’x40’)
  • 5 blackbox studios
  • 6 control booths

Offices and meeting rooms

  • 18 meeting and collaborative rooms of varying sizes
  • 84 office spaces
